Small campsite near the Sallandse Heuvelrug in the eastern Netherlands

Camping de Portlander is a cozy mini campsite with 40 spots in the Eastern Netherlands, ideally located close to the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. The area is very suitable for nature lovers, yet there is also a lot to do nearby for children, including gnome paths, play farm Dondertman, outdoor swimming pools, adventure park Hellendoorn, or De Flierefluiter! Furthermore, Camping de Portlander is centrally located in relation to the villages of Holten, Raalte, and Nijverdal. Seeking even more shopping fun and culture? Additionally, the charming Hanseatic cities of Deventer, Zwolle, and Zutphen are less than half an hour’s drive from the campsite.

Camping fields at Camping de Portlander

At our SVR campsite, you will find two camping fields. The ‘play field’ is encircled by a row of tall trees and is divided in the middle by a few beautiful large birches. Almost all guests on this field have a view of the playground, allowing you to keep an eye on the children from your own spot! Outside the school holidays, this camping field is more filled with (older) couples, hikers, mountain bikers, and families with children who do not yet go to school, offering a bit of everything.

Moreover, our ‘Green Meadow’ is designated for guests who do not necessarily need to be near the play facilities. The camping spots here are a bit more spacious, and due to often having fewer guests on the field, it provides a peaceful atmosphere. From your spot, you can look over the low vegetation into the meadows and be at the forefront of a beautiful sunset. Additionally, we also use this field for group camping or small events.

Family Camping Holiday in the Netherlands

What our guests really appreciate about Camping de Portlander? The campsite is located in the middle of the meadows, with no through road or water nearby. Children can play freely without parents having to worry!

We try to make it as fun as possible for our youngest guests: a large sandbox with a water pump and a separate sand workshop, a trampoline that you can really ‘jump high on’, a small play forest, playground equipment, bikes, scooters, go-karts, and farm animals that will especially appeal to young children (up to about 10 years old).

During the peak season, there is small-scale ‘entertainment’: every morning, we feed the donkeys together, cuddle with the chickens, and on some evenings, we gather around the campfire to make marshmallows. Occasionally, children can take a short walk on our pony. We see proud little faces! Every weekend for our guests, we make fresh pizzas. You can enjoy them in the Kapschuur or take away from us. Nothing is mandatory, everything is allowed.

Near the campsite, there are many fun (outdoor) activities for children: swimming pools, climbing and splashing woods, children’s walks, and amusement parks such as Adventure Park Hellendoorn.

No camper or tent, but still want to camp?

At Camping de Portlander, there are two fully equipped tents for up to 4 people. This way, you can camp comfortably with your family without your own camping gear, because the tent contains four fixed beds which we have already made up for you. A simple kitchenette, refrigerator, complete inventory, and various cozy seating areas complete the experience.

Camping de Portlander is the ideal place for a stopover

Camping de Portlander is super conveniently located if you’re traveling to or from the West Netherlands. Within 10 minutes from the A1 highway, you’re already at our cozy campsite. It’s a great place to relax with your family and enjoy the peace and space around you. This way, you’ll be completely refreshed for the rest of your journey the next day. Many guests even stay a few extra nights because they like it so much here. So, whether you’re passing through or just looking for a short break, Camping de Portlander is the ideal place for a stopover.
